A Final Note from the Pleiades Wine Company

November 21, 2025

It is perhaps a form of elegance, though not the sort you’ll find in formalwear or tasting notes, that everything ends. This includes, as of today, the Pleiades Wine Company.

All the wines have found homes, as they always seemed to do. This was never a business in the way accountants understand that word. It was an ongoing curiosity, a slightly mad experiment in what could be made if you listened harder to the grapes than to the textbooks. If you gave a damn about joy, and allowed yourself to be surprised by it.

And so here we are. The barrels are empty. The old oak trees still stand. And the lights are turned off not in sorrow, but in recognition: that something was done here with real care and unreasonable delight.

To those of you who drank with us, thank you. Not in the public relations sense, but in the sense of gratitude one feels when someone gets the joke you didn’t explain. You made it possible to make wine that had no explanation, no recipe, no apology. Only itself.

Sean once wrote, “Let it give us one more final pleasure: drink it and forget it all.” Which is about as good an epitaph as any endeavor could ask for.

We never promised consistency, or convention, or even clarity. We promised pleasure. We believe we delivered.
